Every year anew John St, Toronto, comes up with their annual pisstakes on the lunacy of ad land.
This year they turn into Jane St – a perfect parody on the rather suspect side of femvertising. And yes, you will see a lot of references to campaigns, agencies and brands you know.
John St spoofs started off years ago with Pink Ponies (taking the piss out of Cannes). They founded a new agency for Catvertising (I still think this is a great idea), they invented Buyrals, Exfearientials and last year’s film was all about Reactvertising, which makes fun of the real time marketing hype.
As with every good satire: I have heard actual ad people talking about these ideas as if they were real business models (particularly the Buyrals).
Thanks again for this concept, John St. One day I will work for you.
